Current estimates are that 15.3 million children have been orphaned by the AIDS pandemic which has raged out of control for the last 30 years. This statistic alone is enough to inspire us to step on a plane and lend support to raise an entirely new kind of generation, one with no parents… one raised by the GOGO’s. A big part of our approach is to help keep these grandmothers going for the difficult tasks that fall to them daily. Attend volunteer training and you may find yourself drawn to be a part of our team. Make a donation and you will know you’ve contributed to creating solutions. Children do not belong in the streets!
In South Africa thousands of children are orphaned each day. Added to those numbers are the children flooding into S.A. from Zimbabwe and other African countries where there is a dramatic lack of food, clothing, medicine and support for children. The numbers of children living on the streets escalates daily where they experience a lifestyle that no child should have to endure. They are there, not because they are troublemakers, but because they are hungry, frightened and alone. |
