Gogo is Zulu for Grandmother. Lovelight has formed an alliance called GOGO ~ Grandmother’s Organized in Global Oneness.
This project calls upon grandmothers internationally to become members. Funds raised support our volunteers team work with Gogos in Africa. as well as provide support in the form of food & clothing and forming business mentor-ships to assist gogos in developing a profitable trade to support their households. GOGO’s goal is to be a source of encouragement and a resource for grandmother’s whom shoulder a great deal of the load in the AIDS/orphan crisis having recently lived through Apartheid.
It is not uncommon for births to go unregistered, therefore government support of families in crisis is frequently a very challenging thing to find. The GOGO project is one of many ways to be involved with Lovelight. |

GOGO: Grandmothers Organized in Global Oneness Gogo is Zulu for Grandma An international alliance to empower grandmothers
is seeking grandmothers AND THOSE WHO LOVE GRANDMOTHERS to create a stronger voice for change!
Through the NOVALIS Institute in Cape Town, Lovelight has been offering trainings for the grandmothers and caregivers in the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Because the adult population has been dying in dramatic numbers due to HIV/AIDS, the gogos are left to raise the children left alone. Volunteers have been teaching Healing Touch, and offering support over the past five years. In a place where little pharmaceuticals have been available, it is wonderful for the caregivers to have some hands-on tools to work with the sick and dying. Also the need for grief support and stress relief is enormous.
You can become, or assist, a volunteer from the U.S. to travel to South Africa to provide trainings and sessions in a wide range of healing modalities and exchange creative solutions as teachers and learners.
